Nurture and Grow has been developed from a commitment to provide high quality in-home midwifery care to families of the Illawarra and Wollongong regions.

Nurture and Grow eases you through the early weeks with your new baby.

We focus on your breastfeeding and early parenting needs with our bespoke in-home breastfeeding classes and postnatal service in the Illawarra region.

This wonderful service is run by two passionate and experienced midwives and lactation consultants with the support from female Obstetrician, Dr Pip Gale.

Emma Gedge, Midwife

Emma Gedge

Having graduated with a Bachelor of Midwifery from the University of Technology Sydney, Emma has been registered midwife since 2012. She has worked across all areas of pregnancy, birth and postnatal care and continues to work in the hospital setting, ensuring her skills are current.

Emma has a special interest in postnatal care, antenatal education and breastfeeding. In 2016 she undertook advanced study in breastfeeding and became a certified Lactation Consultant. Emma has also completed training in providing birth and parenting classes.

She is passionate about supporting women and their partners through the early days of adjusting to parenthood. She also believes strongly in a wholistic approach to care, empowering women to make informed choices through their pregnancy and postnatal journeys.

Emma is married and has three lovely teenagers. Her own experiences with pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting have been a driving force in her desire to support other women and families through this precious, yet challenging time in their lives.

Helen Donovan, Midwife

Helen Donovan

With a Bachelor of Midwifery from the University of Technology Sydney, Helen has been registered midwife since 2012. Since qualifying Helen has worked in caseload midwifery; caring for women and their families throughout the pregnancy, labour, birth and the early parenting period.

Helen is passionate about providing high quality care and support to women and their partners as they transition to parenthood. Her philosophy is to empower women and their partners to have confidence in their ability to birth, parent and feed their babies. This includes support through antenatal education, postnatal care, breastfeeding and early parenting.

Helen is a qualified lactation consultant. She has also completed training in providing group antenatal and parenting classes. She continues to work as a Registered Midwife in the hospital setting to keep her skills current.

Helen has had four babies, with positive birth experiences inspiring her to pursue her passion for midwifery and natural birth.  Prior to her midwifery career, Helen worked as a complementary therapist.
